I’ve Been Nominated For A ‘One Lovely Blog’ Award
Heather Nicholds, C.H.N.

A new friend of mine, Jill from Vegan Backpacker, nominated me for a ‘One Lovely Blog’ award.

I met Jill through our mutual blogging on vegan travel, and then was able to meet her and her husband in person once we finished our travels since Phil and I were moving to their current city of Ottawa, Canada.

It’s been awesome to connect with a vegan couple, another blogger, and also just nice people. Thank you Jill for the shout out 🙂

Here are the rules to abide in order to accept this award and they are:

  1. Post linking back to the person that gave you the award
  2. Share 7 random things about yourself
  3. Award 15 recently discovered blogs
  4. Drop them a note and tell them about it

So, to be worthy of this award I now need to share with all of you 7 things about myself. Since a lot of you have been asking me to share more personal information, this works in nicely.

2. Three of my favorite books are Barney’s Version, by Mordecai Richler (I’m a bit nervous to see the movie…), For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Ernest Hemingway and The BFG, by Roald Dahl.

3. The sport I competed in throughout my younger days, until heading to university, was synchronized skating (picture synchronized swimming, on ice). I’ve been skating on a recreational team in BC for the last few years, and am excited to see if I can keep up on a more competitive team here in Ottawa. Wish me luck!

5. Even though I know I’ll regret it, I can’t stop myself from eating so much pineapple that my tongue burns. I’ll throw a little nutrition tidbit in here for you too – pineapple contains bromelain, which is an enzyme that helps to digest proteins. Papaya (another tropical fruit) has another protein-digestive enzyme called papain.

7. Since there’s currently an election going on in Canada, I’ll share my political views. I vote for and am a supporter of the Green Party. But I do wish, as David Suzuki says, that ALL of the parties were green… and that they had vision and policy beyond the next election…
