These squares are so tasty that you wouldn’t guess they’re super healthy and pumped up with seeds (like flax) that are rich in essential omega-3 fatty acids.
One square (from a batch of 16) has 3358mg of omega-6 and 1474mg of Omega-3, which gives them a ratio of 2.3:1. That means they will help tip the balance back to the more appropriate 4:1 ratio you should aim for.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup ground flax
- 2 Tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/3 cup soft dates (pitted) – about 6 Tbsp or 6 large medjool dates
- 1/3 cup carob powder (or 1/4 cup cocoa plus extra dates or maple syrup)
- 1cup cooked quinoa
- 1 Tbsp greens powder (optional)
Directions
- Put everything in a food processor and pulse until it comes together in a sticky mixture.
- Spread into a baking dish (brownie size for thinner squares, loaf size for thick cubes) and press flat with wet hands.
- Chill in the fridge for 10 min or longer, then cut into squares and enjoy! Best to keep them in the fridge as much as possible, to keep them fresh and solid.
