I’m chatting with Dreena Burton – vegan cookbook author extraodinaire and mother of 3 young girls – about healthy cooking for kids, what it’s like raising vegan kids, making sure they get balanced nutrition, dealing with picky eaters and sending them to parties.

Key Points
- Kids enjoy the foods that they grow up with, so as long as you make things like beans for them from a young age in a way that’s not too far out of their tastes, healthy cooking for kids is easier than you might think.
- Pair foods kids might not enjoy so much (like leafy greens) with a special sauce or food (like avocado) that they love.
- Be proactive when you’re sending your kids to a party. Call the parents in advance to see what they’re planning for food and offer to send a vegan alternative for your child. i.e. veggie pizza, vegan hot dog, etc.
